One of Israel's biggest top songs last year was the smash "Tamid Ohev Oti", which declares that God loves me, no matter what. The song has become popular in secular and religious audiences, and has become the anthem of Israel even in a massive time of war and division. Come learn how the song relates to contemporary Israel as well as a longstanding debate about the role of love and faith in Judaism.

Dr. Shayna Weiss is the Senior Associate Director of the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University. She is interested in religion and gender in the Israeli public sphere, as well as the politics of Israeli popular culture. She also serves on the steering committee of the Haredi Research Group.
