Beat Midrash: a live performance & open conversation

  • Lehrhaus 425 Washington Street Somerville, MA 02143 USA (map)

"Beat Midrash" is a live performance and open conversation highlighting the power of creative language in creating a community and bringing about social change. This musical and textual meeting incorporates English, Hebrew, Arabic, and Yiddish, all considered unique and essential cultural roots. It explores the connection between the audience (Kahal) and community (Kehila), as well as the role of art in facilitating dialogue during conflict and serving as a socio-political tool. On the thin line between Hiphop and Klezmer, it delves into a case study of the mixed city of Jaffa while imagining a better tomorrow.
